So on a personal note, I woke up way too early instead of staying up too late today and since I’m not feeling that well, I decided to wake up and shower up. And now here I am, writing this post (although it’s most likely that it’s no longer early the moment you read this post).
Since this is a personal blog, I’m taking my privilege of making a short whine (yes, a short one since I would rather do something more productive with a long post). So I wanna whine about how unproductive I am for the last few weeks. It’s probably because of my College Schedule which gave me more free time than ever OR else. Any excuse is lame anyway, so I’m ending it here.
Xenophon: Vahreas Chronicles - Chapter 1: The Master
‘Great work!’ said a King inside the walls of a castle which is standing firmly in the middle of the golden
sands.
‘It’s an honor for a mere subordinate like me to receive such praise from Milord, but I sincerely believe
that my achievements so far is nowhere close to worth of such kind words.’ bowing before the King, is a young
knight in thin armor. He bowed deeply, showing that despite of his rank, he was no more than a commoner.
‘You should watch your manner before the King, wretch.’ the Chairman, standing beside the King, said.
‘Leave him be, he’s just being modest.’ the King laughed. ‘But of course of all people, you deserve the
credit for being able to win big in an advance.’ the King drank from his golden grail.
‘I have nothing in mind but to minimize casualties in both sides, Milord.’ the young knight said.
‘I must admit that your reason is naive, yet your methods are indeed effective, looKing at the number of
resources and slaves that our country had gained with your help.’ the King laughed once again. ‘Such achievements
deserve considerable award and since nobility is out of the question, I’m now offering you a slave from any land
that you’ve conquered, the one that suits your taste the most, the one that can fulfill your desires, and most of
all, tax-free!’ the King laughed as he took another sip of his wine.
‘I care not for looks sire, I’d rather look for an open mind which I can engineer into our country’s best
war asset.’
‘Interesting!’ the King banged his cup into the table beside his chair. ‘I’ll have the census board send
you the most intelligent slave they could find.’
‘I object, sire!’ the Chairman said. ‘This have been the third time he made this kind of request, not to
mention that somehow, all countries that he had conquered so far are all well-known for their technology!’
‘Forgive my rudeness sir Chairman, but are you doubting the might of both our emperor and our country?’ the
young knight said.
‘What are trying to imply, knave?’
‘What I am trying to imply is that even if I plan to rebel, would I stand a chance against the wrath of
Milord and the might of his knights?’
‘Wonderful, General Dadiva!’ the King clapped his hands. ‘And for that, I should ask you to cease bowing.’
‘Sire!’ the Chairman objected.
‘Sir Chairman, would you be so kind to bring here my blade of honor?’
‘For what if I may ask, Milord? Although a General, Dadiva is a mere knave, worth not of honor from
Milord!’
‘And would even a noble dare to object my decision?’ the King banged his table again.
‘I worth not of an honor from Milord, but shall Milord wish to do so, I shall accept it.’ Dadiva replied.
‘Well, a sword might not suit you after all.’ the King stood up, picked a flower from a bouquet in his table. ‘With you as the first and with this white rose, the very symbol of our nation, I shall bestow upon you, a commoner with such virtue worth honor.’ the King placed the flower in Dadiva’s head. ‘Alexander Dadiva, hereby I knight you, a commoner with merit who from now on, shall be honored with the title “Master” as this honor you gain with countless, restless, and honorable struggle of your own.’ the King walked back to his seat. ‘You may remain standing as that is now a privilege of yours, that is you may stand after first bowing in honor to me.’ the King laughed. ‘You may leave.’
The young man, Alexander Dadiva who as now, known with the title “Master”, bowed once again, turned his face and left the audience chamber. The guards however, looked at him with disgust all over their face.
‘I like that man, he’s simple but effective.’ the King laughed.
‘I would not prefer him to be one of us, those knaves couldn’t be trusted.’ the Chairman sighed.
‘And by saying that, you doubt my decision?’ and the very moment the king said that, the guards captured the Chairman and he was sent to the torture chamber.
Days after, Alexander Dadiva was sitting in his office, scheming his next assault.
‘Master Dadiva, sorry to interrupt, but the slave that you’ve requested has arrived.’ A guard said as he rushed into Dadiva’s room.
‘Thanks, could you leave the both of us alone? I need to have some serious conversation with this one.’ Dadiva replied as he continued writing.
‘Not a problem, Master!’ the guard replied as he brought in a rather young girl in a thin white dress, her hair was shining in silver and her skin was as sleek as a doll’s. ‘Alright then, please excuse me, Master!’ the guard then closed the door.
‘You’ve gained yourself something fancy, huh?’ the girl spoke, a few moment after the guard left them.
‘And you look surprisingly good with that.’ Dadiva giggled as he continued to read on some books.
‘Fool, it’s not like I wear this by purpose, you idiot!’ the girl’s face turned red. ‘And now that we’ve gone through all that trouble to once again reunite, what should we do now?’
‘As what our “Mother” had ordered, it is our duty to make sure that their technology won’t go beyond our control.’ Dadiva said as he closed his last book.
‘And in this past few years, I believed that you’ve done that quite smoothly.’
‘Unfortunately, there is one thing that I fail to object.’ Dadiva sighed.
‘And what is that that it could make you worry?’ the girl giggled.
‘They are trying to recreate the Xenophon Virus.’
‘What on earth are they thinking?’ the girl banged Dadiva’s table. ‘And I thought their ancestors had burned all of the files?’
‘I’m afraid that there are countries who didn’t understand that and a random General happened to conquer them.’ Dadiva sighed. ‘But now that we know that war is inevitable, we should report to our “Mother”, right?’
‘And that’s why you decided to call me here, huh? You should know that the tests that I need to go through were hell.’ The girl rounded her hands around Dadiva’s neck. ‘And now you want me to leave already? It’s already a good thing they didn’t perform an X-ray check to my body.’
‘Now now, don’t be a crybaby, you’re my reliable senior, aren’t you?’ Dadiva patted the girl’s head. ‘And before they done that, I need you to report back to our “Mother”, alright?’
‘Whatever, we’ll be together again sooner or later, right? We’re the only one who can continue “her” legacy after all.’ The girl laughed.
‘And I know just the plan to send you back.’ Dadiva said as he showed his work to the girl.
‘Interesting, a somewhat direct confrontation with us, huh?’ the girl giggled. ‘And according to that, you’ll join us soon, huh?’
‘Yeah, I’ve been here for way too long and the upper echelons aren’t fond of me and it might be able to greatly reduce that old fart’s morale.’ The both of them then laughed.
Feel free to comment in any method you prefer.
And not to waste your time any longer, I would take another personal note since today, two of my best friends are celebrating their birthdays. To Christoper Sesio and to my (former teacher in High School) Ms. Ika Dian, I would like to wish the very best for the both of you! May God bless you and provide as what may help you to bloom to your best!
End of words, I’ve given some thought onto the third chapter of Xenophons: Vahreas Chronicles which will be about the second major Faction in the story, the Eudorates. Thus, stay tuned! ^_^
