Ego, being an egoist, has it ever been something that sound any close to positive?
Being a compassionate, caring to others, and empathetic had never been as important as in this age where people became even more and more individual.
Being egoistic is bad. At least that’s what I told myself whenever I’m being selfish, telling myself that I should be more considerate the next time I encounter a similar event.
I just had an argument with my GF. She said that I am egoistic, then she asked what I thought about her. Looking back, I stated the same thing. After all, how can people live without their ego?
I began to brainstorm.
Without the ego of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, we won’t have PCs and iPods.
Without Mother Teresa’s ego, lots of people in India would have died out of either poverty or leper.
Without his ego, Einstein wouldn’t have had labelled genius for his theory.
Without his ego, we wouldn’t enjoy Edison’s electric light bulbs.
Without the ego of whoever it is who found fire, we won’t enjoy technology at all.
However:
With his ego, Adam was kicked out of Eden, the beginning of our endless demands.
With the ego of those who built the Tower of Babel, God separated human through languages.
With his ego, Jonah have to go through the trial of the giant fish
With their ego, many world leaders have been brought down by revolts.
With my ego, I’ve made my GF upset.
Yeah, we need ego and we’re living with ego. Whether it’s good health, wealth, beauty, well-being, peace, wisdom, or knowledge, we demand. We never stop demanding. Those demands forged ideals, then ambition. Whether it’s good or bad, we want our ambition to be fulfilled, that’s my definition of ego. My point is that it’s important for us to know our egos.
People who said Illegal Drugs are bad, are being egoistic.
In the other hand, so are the people who said that Illegal Drugs are good.
We all know how bad those Drugs are and how they affect our life. Thus we know that we have to avoid them at all costs, and choosing to avoid them completely is the right ego to follow.
We need egos but not all. Make sure that the ego you’re following is the right one.
End of words, I realized how tl;dr is my blabbering, but bear with it and I hope that you can see the conclusion that I might have missed. Thanks for hearing my piece of mind.
Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for being wanted, for having someone to call their own.
